Colchester castle

Colchester Castle is one of the best-known landmarks in my hometown. Colchester is often described as Britain’s oldest recorded town, with a history stretching back to Roman times. The castle was built in the 11th century over the remains of the Roman Temple of Claudius, and today it houses a museum full of local history and archaeology. I love that such a huge part of the town’s history is still visible in everyday life.
