Manoomin (Wild Rice) Soup

Manoomin (Wild Rice) is a type of dark colored rice with a nutty flavor found in and around the Great lakes region of North America. It is one of the traditional foods of the Anishinaabeg people and is something shared by my birthplace Minnesota and new home Manitoba. It can have a variety of ingredients such as vegetables, mushrooms, and protein like fish (especially Walleye) or fowl. I personally like mine with squash and mushrooms. This heartwarming stew is one of my favorites and reminds me of home.
