Historical graveyards, Cementiri Vell

Beauty can be found anywhere if you look with intention, and graveyards are good proof of it.The "Cementiri de Poble Nou", also known as "Cementiri Vell" (old cemetery), was created at the end of the 18th century to solve the problem of comunal graves outside the walls of the city. It is the home of the famous "Kiss of Death" statue.By the end of the 19th century, many small graveyards found themselves unable to offer more ground due to the urban expansion of the city. Therefore, the "Cementiri de Montjuïc" or "Cementiri Nou" ("new cemetery") was built. You'll find stunning art pieces like the tomb of Nicolau Juncosa or "l'Àngel Desolat" ("desolate angel").
