Mount Rainier, Washington

In the state of Washington, especially around Seattle, Mount Rainier (or Tahoma as it is called locally, which is the mountain's native name) has become a local celebrity. It is very rainy and overcast up here so on the uncommon day where we have blue sky, and the mountain becomes visible, all the locals kind of freak out whenever we see her (Tacoma). We say she is wearing a hat when she has cloud obstructing the view of the peak, or that she has a new blanket whenever she gets fresh snowfall. It's a beautiful tradition that all the locals up here take part in, celebrating when we can see her in all her glory.
