Bocca della Verità, Rome
One Italian tradition that I remember fondly is visiting the Bocca della Verità (the Mouth of Truth) in Rome. It’s a famous ancient stone mask with an open mouth, and according to legend, it bites the hand of anyone who tells a lie! When I visited Rome, I put my hand inside its mouth. It was such a fun experience, and I remember how fascinating it felt to take part in a tradition that so many people know about. I think these little moments are a lovely way to connect with a country’s history, legends and culture. 🇮🇹️Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of that moment to share with you. It was a long time ago, when mobile phones weren’t as advanced as they are today, and we didn’t take pictures of everything! So I have to rely on my memory to keep that lovely moment alive. ️
