I spend a lot of time -- a LOT of time -- thinking. I think about a lot of things (it's kind of my job), but what I'm thinking most about these days is myself: not in a selfish or narcissistic way, but in the way in which the ancient Greeks advised themselves and all of us to "know thyself." I'm trying to know myself, both within myself and in my relations to other people and things: to beauty, to anxiety and sadness, to art, to nature, to my fellow citizens in these increasingly difficult and troubling times. I would love to get to know you, and myself in relation to you.
