I really enjoy going on extended multi-day hikes in the mountains, where i stay overnight in simple huts and bring my own food. A typical multi-day hike begins at home with the planning. Which route do I want to take? Where are the mountain huts? Is there water along the way and in the huts? How much food do I need to bring if there are no shops along the way? Are there beds in the huts, or do I need to bring my own sleeping mat? Even with good planning, there can always be surprises on the trail. In such cases, it's always good not arrive at the hut too late.
