Ach! I may have lost what I'd just written, in trying to go back a bit, so I apologize if this is redundant. I moved from the East Coast to California as I began, progressively, to become more and more exposed to the legal profession by my brothers. As I learned that I was a "natural" for the law, I learned that I could balance my devotion to music (writing, performing, etc.) with a good profession. This led to a couple of decades as an attorney, during which, among other things, I co-wrote an expert brief (an "amicus brief") before the U.S. Supreme Court in the landmark case Lotus v. Borland, and also had a vital professional life as a software and hardware attorney in Silicon Valley. My own career and that of my wife (one of the first female judges in California) eventually took its toll, and we divorced. That said, I'm very occupied with helping out my nuclear family even though I'm divorced from my long-term wife - simply put, because I still love her (but am NOT hung up on it or her), even though I cannot stand to live with her - I am a person who takes devotion seriously; despite this, I move forward in life; and, I'm devoted to my two daughters (24 and 17). We all live in Huntsville, AL, because I literally "followed" my ex-wife, if you will, to her hometown soon after she moved there again after our divorce, because I could not bear to be separated from my kids (and, while not in the slightest still hung up on my ex-wife, I remain devoted to the family, and I've made it work, without living in the past at all; in fact, I even remain devoted to her parents, as they approach 90 years of age!). I find ways to make this all work without surrendering myself, being a fool, or being suckered (and, I want to emphasize, it was MY idea to move to Huntsville in order to keep the family patched together VERY WELL, if only for the sake of my beloved daughters. It appears to have worked, and worked fantastically. I am consistently involved in my daughters' lives, and even help out my ex-wife without it EVER becoming any sort of "hanging on" fruitlessly. I also remain a serious musician (guitar, keyboards, mandolin, vocals, etc.), and spend much of my time on composing and preparing to record my original music. I've also created several inventions involving technological advancements, and have even brought several cat toys to market, because I love cats and also have a kind of funny sense of humor that drives me to do things like that!
