For as long as I can remember I have been a writer. Now, I’m a novelist, my main priorities are my novel and my book that I'm writing and drawing - an anthology of comic strips, which I plan to self publish within the next few years. I aim to finish my novel in June and my comic book in July. I write scripts (for animation) in between novels. I have a degree in creative writing, with a specialisation in screenwriting.
My interest in writing for games (scripts and designs) includes simulated robots, simulated mechanical rides, 2D interactive cartoons, innovative adventure/rpg and strategy. I hope to reach an audience with open source art-games (interesting simulations and interactive cartoons/patchwork experiments.) I'm currently learning programming in my spare time. I also plan to become a video game producer when I have earned some capital to start a business.
My comic book style is awkward patchwork, mostly pencil + image editing software (Photoshop/Gimp) But it feels very handmade. I also have a portfolio of cartoon characters.
My first novel is strictly real life from the point of view of a poet fixated on deconstruction. The analysis of the artist at his weakest, ugliest, most naked. But my story is also about a decent bloke who has been through a lot and found his way back from (insanity) Narnia.
I'm also interested in production design for theatre and I have a background in poetry.
I write arthouse surrealism. I started out in film writing screenplays in the vein of It’s Such A Beautiful Day, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Naked Lunch, Trainspotting, The Fisher King, Monty Python. I wrote three feature film screenplays and a television pilot before adapting all of my stories to the novel format.
My style is a tug of war between a children’s adventure and a philosophical argument. This kind of story finds a suitable home in the literary novel. I most love to write stories about strict school life, natural disasters and exploration, adventure (especially with a young protagonist,) morbid humour, precisely detailed gross subjects and violence, psychological drama, technology and obsession, stalking, nerds and rock stars, awkward young women.
I enjoy playing Magic: the Gathering, Sega Master System, Sega Megadrive, SNES and PS1. As well as a few games on PC (The Sims, Solforge, Crimsonland, Close Combat, Age of Empires, Swarm, Sportsfriends, Osmos, Hacker Evolution: Untold) and a few indie games - Fez, Super Meat Boy, Limbo.
