Hi! My name is Steve. I live in Bowling Green, Kentucky, which is just north of Nashville, Tennessee (Music City USA). I have a very varied background, and while I don't have a "must have" list, I especially like meeting people who love the outdoors. For starters, I am married to a school teacher, and have 3 kids. We've known each other since 1990, when we were in college. While over the years, we've had a lot of pets (at one time!), presently we have 3 cats, 1 dog, a goldfish pond, and 2 inside tanks of fish. My son has a Chinese Water Dragon. I began my career just out of college, where I received a B.S. degree, with sort of a 4-interest emphasis in law enforcement and safety, e.g. I took classes in 4 different major areas within my college at the university. I then became a photographer, that being my primary occupation during the 1980s. During this time, I also worked some in emergency services, as both a volunteer and paid professional. I decided to come back to college in 1989, and this eventually led to graduate degrees in public health, recreation and physical education. Wanting to go one step farther, I then got a doctorate in education. So, for many years, I worked in the education environment, having a variety of positions in various colleges and universities. They weren't tenure track, so I left and worked for a public system for a while. I was working out of town, and was away from my family and friends, so I eventually came back home and got a local job dealing with industrial security. As one of my degrees in it, and I was a supervisor for this company right out of college, it's sort of interesting and pays the bills. Not a dream job, but I get to see my friends and family every day. My hobbies include a variety of things. I like nature photography. Other nature pursuits include canoeing and kayaking, flyfishing, and camping. Back in my younger days, I was heavily into caving and rappelling. With the Bowling Green area being "cave central", it isn't difficult to find good caves to explore. Mammoth Cave is about 30 minutes up the road. I also did a lot of scuba diving. I pretty much like anything that involves the water or woods. One of my major interests at the moment is amateur radio, also known as ham radio. I like to talk around the world with it, but it's also nice to talk to someone in another state.
