I work with words and with clay -- striving for a life of the mind, amidst the intense physicality of off-grid living on a small and thorny island. I have internet but no indoor bathroom; my 20 acres provide me a wealth of solitude, but I'm also enmeshed in the tight weave of this island community. When I'm not on the island, I spend a month or so in one of the world's great cities. I'm craving New York City right now..I'm interested in hearing people's ideas, whether about the minutiae of their days, or about politics and the state of the world. Also food! I love cooking and eating.
