I'm a law librarian and law professor at a large American university. I spend a lot of time working and being Type A, so writing letters is a way to slow down. In my spare time, I like to listen to tech/science/reality TV podcasts while doing jigsaw puzzles; plan European vacations; and obsess over American politics. Like most academics, I'm fairly liberal. I read a lot--WWII historical fiction, literary fiction, the occasional piece of non-fiction. Honestly, I'm kind of a hobby dilettante: I try a lot of things (bookbinding, crochet, etc.), figure out how to do them, and move on.
