I’m curious about almost everything and happiest in conversations that wander somewhere unexpected. I write about travel, history and the odd corners of places, and I’m drawn to Italy, Britain, science fiction and fantasy, British comedy, culture, and human oddities. I read widely but not solemnly. Humor matters enormously: dry wit, wordplay, absurdity, satire, and the gloriously bawdy all work for me. I’m independent, fairly introverted, and very comfortable with friendships that live largely online.
